B’s processor firmware Update, please read carefully.
If you have not yet, please read my blog (link to blog) about the firmware ;)
As said in the blog three options are available for download, click its name to download:
Legacy firmware: Nothing new, the synchronization bug is the only known issue (affects either the larger tanks or the smallest one). Rotate twice and then reverse. 3 normal modes.
New 2025 stable firmware: Synchronization now works with any tank size in any mode properly. The 3 normal modes remain the same. It now rotates 3 times before it changes direction. Direction change is prone to create bad flows, so this reduces the time it spends in this state.
Experimental firmware: This uses a startup trick to choose what set of programs are active. If the mode switch is on 1 or 3 during the start then you get first set of programs, if it is on 2 during start up, you will have the second set of programs. Simply turn it off, change the mode and restart navigating between the sets.
Experimental mode sets description:
Set 1:
Mode-1 remains the original Pulsed rotation.
Mode-2 is now the “disruptor rotation”, it will cycle through 4 different moves. Fast, pulsed, strong pulses, stop pulses and then back to the beginning. The number of rotations is not the same for all move types.
Mode-3 remains the original fast rotation.
Set 2:
Mode-1 is the new “Strong Pulse” on its own.
Mode-2 is now the original slow rotation.
Mode-2 is the new “Stop Pulse.”
Now, how do you update your firmware?
This is a multi step procedure, do not try if your not confortable doing so. During the procedure, do not unplug the machine until it say the upload was successful.
First check what board you have: Some processors have a different board, it is very easy to tell them apart, simply open the front hatch and see what USB plug is there.
-USB micro is an “Arduino Nano Every”, that’s most processors
-USB Mini, that’s a “Nano” clone, a handful were made with it during COVID
-USB C, this is the newest machine and will be the board going forward, high quality clone
If you have either a Mini or a C plug, a CH340 driver will be required before hand, click the link, download and install the driver.
Now that you know what board you have and you install the proper driver if you need it, download and unzip your Firmware of choice somewhere you know on your computer then follow the steps in this video.
